The restored W.A. Hall Store in Gardiner now serves as the home for the Yellowstone Association, a nonprofit educational foundation operating in Yellowstone National Park. Built in 1903 and originally designed by Robert Reamer, the $3M restoration provides new administrative offices, education classes, while meeting public interpretive needs and providing a small retail space. The building lies directly at the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park and is the most dominant building in Gardiner from the Park. The building has been carefully adapted to maintain a close connection to the buildings original purpose, while connecting with park history and architecture. The building now provides staff and visitors a connection to the past through a truly unique surrounding.
This project is the final phase of Yellowstone Association’s effort to streamline their administrative, education & retail supply facilities. Beginning with a $1.7M storage facility directly behind the new Headquarters’ locations, also completed by A&E Architects, the completion of this project finishes the Yellowstone Association's campus in Gardiner. The renovation of the W.A. Hall Store and associated warehouse was completed in Spring 2009.
