This multi-level building for Engineering, Inc. represents the implementation of current technologies while integrating flexibility for future technology evolvement and potential for growth for this civil engineering, surveying and construction management firm. The buildings location in the Trans Tech Center, Montana’s most advanced high tech business park, on the growing west side of Billings provides the firm with access to multiple redundant fiber optic lines as well as providing a direct connection to the growth the firm has a hand in creating. The subdivision’s location on a former homestead allows connections to the live creek, ponds, bike and walking trails, extensive natural and planted landscaping, and majestic mountain views which are incorporated into the building’s siting and design.

The exterior of the building presents materials and building forms that relate to the original homestead farm buildings while creating a welcoming and understated exterior that is comfortable to both the staff and their client base of civil contractors, residential and commercial builders, and local and national developers. The interiors are finished with slate stone tile and clear stained wood timbers that further defines and refines the vernacular understated exterior appearance. High ceilings and open office work areas strive for collaboration between coworkers and gives clients and visitors a sense of energy and interaction with the design team. The building houses few private offices which provides for efficient work spaces and fosters team environment.
