The Empire Block Building is located in a new urban infill development called the Great Northern Town Center in downtown Helena. The three story building, with 7200 sf per floor and a full basement, is sited on one of the four corners of the key intersection to the development. The style tried to emulate the more classic and historic architecture that is very typical of the downtown and upper Gulch area of the Capitol City of Montana. The exterior materials are primarily stone masonry with accents of faux stucco, metal panels, and ornamental iron.
The main floor and basement is occupied by an upscale steak house/lounge, with all design services for this steak house being provided by A&E Architects. The 3rd Floor is entirely occupied by AARP. U.S. Senator Max Baucus' State Office and a national political lobbying and consulting group occupy the second floor. State of the art technology and data access was provided for all building occupants.
